ABOUT ME
My Background

I grew up in Keller, Texas, and attended the University of North Texas (UNT) and studied Psychology and Spanish. During my sophomore year in college, I studied abroad at ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico. After UNT, I served as an international volunteer in Bluefields, Nicaragua, with the Capuchin Franciscans for two very formative years. Returning from Nicaragua, I worked at a non-profit organization in Worcester, MA, before going to graduate school at Boston College. I graduated from BC in 2004 with a masters degree in clinical social work and a masters degree in pastoral ministry. Since 2001, I have worked as a mental health counselor to English and Spanish speaking individuals, couples, and families. I spent several years working at the University of Dallas and currently work a few hours a week at the University of Texas in Dallas.

Something that Guides Me:
Make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

An Instrument of Peace...
Counseling Approach

The fact that someone would be willing to come to counseling means that they already possess the willingness and inner strength to discover the solutions they desire. I help them discover these solutions using my clinical tool kit that includes:

-
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Narrative Therapy (a strength-based approach to therapy)
-
Mindfulness
-
Motivational Interviewing (helps resolve ambivalence so that people can truly make changes in their lives)
-
Enneagram (a powerful tool that can lead to self-discovery and spiritual transformation)
-
Spiral Dynamics (maps out a helpful path towards self-actualization)

With my eclectic skill-set and years of professional experience, I offer a holistic counseling approach which integrates the realms of psychology and spirituality.

I work with individuals, couples, families, and the LGBTQ community. When you're ready, you're ready. Contact me today.
